Meditation is the habitual process of training your mind to focus and redirect ruminating and/or negative thoughts non-judgmentally. Meditation is something everyone can do to improve their mental, physical and emotional health. It’s kindness and compassion practices for yourself and others that teach you to live in the present moment, the only moment we ever really have.

I have been a student of both Kathy and Christina’s mindfulness practice for more than a year now. I can say with all sincerity that these classes have been a gift. By that, I mean they have given me peace in the midst of a storm and an open and friendly community when I have felt isolated. I have learned so many tools (both through meditation classes with Kathy and yoga classes with Christina) to help down-regulate my nervous system, which in my mind, is the key to good health as we age. And I am still learning. Every class is new and different. I am a work in progress, but I would not have come this far without the superior guidance of both Christina and Kathy. I am truly grateful to be a part of the Rooted Tree community.
Our mindfulness class teaches you the wonderful process of becoming aware and accepting yourself. The class offers tools that allow you to rationally process situations that will come up in everyday living and the ability to process logical decisions. You become aware that the only situation you have control over is yourself! With this awareness, you become better able to assess related factors. You are very much at peace with yourself and see the world in a much brighter light. This, of course, resonates with everyone and everything around you.

Christina and Kathy are a mindful mother-daughter duo who began their healing journey together in 2013. Kathy began recognizing some of her own anxious tendencies presenting in her daughter, and they undertook a deep dive into various holistic modalities. Christina quickly found a sanctuary through the practice of yoga and followed in her mother's footsteps to attain her Bachelor's of Psychology. She continued her studies to attain a designation as a Yoga Psychology Specialist, while her mother found a similar path by undertaking a rigorous 2-year mindfulness meditation certification with world-renowned teachers Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. They have both found immense relief from their mental and physical struggles through a consistent mindfulness practice and are excited to share their knowledge with others in an accessible way!
